How We Work
We follow each child's cues and build genuine relationships. Every interaction is an opportunity to show a child they are valued, safe, and loved.
Play is how children learn best. Our curriculum is emergent and child-led, guided by educators who know when to step in and when to let curiosity lead.
We celebrate every child's background, ability, and identity. Our centre welcomes bilingual families, children with diverse needs, and all family structures.
You are the expert on your child. We stay in close communication with families, share daily updates, and approach every parent relationship as a true partnership.

Centre Director
RECE (Registered), M.Ed.
Sarah founded Sunshine Childcare in 2008 with a vision of creating a warm, inclusive space where every child feels seen and valued. With 18 years of early childhood education experience, she leads our team with expertise and genuine love for this work. Sarah holds a Master’s in Education and is a Registered Early Childhood Educator.
Lead Educator, Toddler Room
RECE, BEd.
Bilingual in English and French, Marie brings 12 years of experience to our toddler program. Her deep passion for language development and emergent curriculum shapes everything we do in the toddler room. Parents consistently name Marie as a key reason their families stay with us year after year.
Lead Educator, Preschool
RECE, Child Development Certificate
James specializes in STEAM education and nature-based outdoor learning environments. His innovative preschool curriculum has been recognized by the Ottawa District Childcare Association for its creativity and effectiveness. James is passionate about building children’s confidence through hands-on discovery.
We hold a valid Child Care Centre licence issued under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. Our licence is subject to unannounced inspections and annual renewal.
Every lead educator in our centre is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators of Ontario.
Our physical space and digital presence meet the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) requirements, ensuring all families can access our services.
